The Am Law 100, The Early Numbers: Revenue, Profits Surge at Quinn Emanuel
Posted by Irene Plagianos
Last year was, financially speaking, a very good one for the litigators at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, according to an announcement issued by the firm Friday. Gross revenues rose roughly 31 percent, to just over $723 million, while profits per equity partner jumped nearly 15 percent, to $4.1 million. Revenue per lawyer at the firm was up as well, rising $14.2 percent to roughly $1.4 million.
"Obviously, we could not have achieved financial results like these simply billing by the hour," managing partner John Quinn said in a statement included in the press release announcing the firm's financial results. "A significant amount of our revenue came from contingent fee and other alternative fee arrangements, both on the plaintiffs and defense side."
This report is part of The Am Law Daily's ongoing Web coverage of 2011 financial results of The Am Law 100/200. Results are preliminary. Final rankings and full results for The Am Law 100 will be published in The American Lawyer's May 2012 issue and on AmericanLawyer.com. The Am Law Second Hundred will be published in the June issue.
