Fox Rothschild Adds Three IP Lawyers by Snapping Up L.A. Boutique
Posted by Brian Baxter
Fox Rothschild has added three intellectual property lawyers in Los Angeles by acquiring local boutique the Chan Law Group, according to sibling publication The Legal Intelligencer.
The Philadelphia-based Am Law 200 firm, which opened a Los Angeles office in 2006, is bringing on firm founder Thomas Chan as a partner, Lisa Karczewski as of counsel, and Steven Hangami as an associate.
The Intelligencer reports that the Chan firm is just the most recent of some ten boutiques that 450-lawyer Fox Rothschild has snapped up since 2005. Among the acquisitions: former Philadelphia IP boutique Synnestvedt & Lechner, which dissolved in August 2011.
Last year Fox Rothschild—which had gross revenues of $239.5 million and profits per partner of $565,000, according to the most recent Am Law 200 financial data—expanded to Washington, D.C., by recruiting three lawyers from Dilworth Paxson, according to sibling publication The National Law Journal.
With the Chan acquisition, Fox Rothschild follows the lead of other Am Law 200 firms that have recently snapped up smaller L.A. shops. In July, Polsinelli Shughart acquired six lawyers from local boutique Quateman, including new L.A. office managing partner Lisa Greer Quateman. In April, Kelley Drye & Warren opened an office in L.A. after acquiring 15-lawyer entertainment boutique White O'Connor Fink & Brenner.
