Littler Mendelson Heads to Music City

Posted by Brian Baxter

Littler Mendelson, the nation's largest employment firm, is opening in Nashville after picking up two partners from Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Miller & Martin.

The Nashville office is the fifty-first for 820-lawyer Littler, which opened its fiftieth office in Venezuela last October and expanded into Alaska the previous June. Employment firms have been rapidly expanding their operations in recent years in order to broaden their client base as corporations navigate a thicket of federal and state labor laws by retaining counsel to advise on job placement issues and potential layoffs.

Littler's latest move comes a week after another Am Law 200 employment firm, 240-lawyer Fisher & Phillips, opened in Cleveland after acquiring local boutique Millisor + Nobil.

Joining Littler in Nashville are Jennifer Robinson, a former cochair of Miller & Martin's wage and hour and California employment law practice groups, and C. Eric Stevens, a former member of the firm's labor and employment and health care practice groups. Both worked out of Miller & Martin's Nashville office. Robinson previously worked in San Francisco for California firms Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison and Hanson Bridgett.
