Proskauer Elects Its Youngest-Ever Chair

Posted by Zach Lowe

Leccese-Joseph-0438-Web-195x230 A quick housekeeping note for those obsessed followers of law firm personnel changes: Proskauer Rose has elected Joseph Leccese to replace Allen Fagin as chairman, according to the New York Law Journal, one of our sibling publications. Leccese, 49, is the youngest elected chair in the 135-year history of the firm, the NYLJ says. Fagin, 60, will step down in January after serving the maximum six-year term.

Leccese sits at that intersection of sports, labor, and finance that Proskauer owns alongside just a few other firms. He has represented just about every major sports league, and he's worked on several landmark sports deals, including sales of the New York Jets and the Philadelphia Eagles, and the financing of Citi Field in Queens. More recently, he helped the National Basketball Association secure an additional $200 million line of credit during the nadir of the economic crisis and represented a losing bidder in the sale of the St. Louis Rams, according to our prior reporting.
