DLA Continues Nixon Peabody Hiring Spree

Posted by Ed Shanahan

By Leigh Jones, The National Law Journal

Nixon Peabody has lost two more partners to DLA Piper, this time from the helm of the firm's insurance and reinsurance practice.

The two are Michael Murphy, chairman of Nixon's insurance and reinsurance group, and Aidan McCormack, practice leader of the group; both lawyers are based in New York. These departures bring the total number of partners who have jumped from Nixon to DLA in recent weeks to nine.

Nixon's insurance and reinsurance group, which includes about 20 partners, has been a key practice for the firm for the last 30 years.

Despite the losses of important partners, Nixon Peabody maintains that the "aggregate impact" on the firm will be "slightly accretive" in 2010, according to spokeswoman Allison McClain. The firm, she said via e-mail, "remains on strong financial ground."
