DLA Lays Off Five Tech Lawyers

Posted by Ross Todd

Layoffs know no borders.

Our colleagues across the pond at Legal Week report that five "fee earners" in DLA Piper's technology, media, and commercial group have been laid off.

The group's global head, Simon Levine, released a statement saying, "The uncertain market conditions have affected some parts of our UK group's business. Like most businesses we are looking closely at ways to ensure that we can better face the unfolding economic challenges. Putting this in perspective, the firm and the TMC group continue to have strong growth and performances in the UK and across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, which reflects the underlying strength of the business."

The article also notes that the downturn has other firms in the region, "Bevan Brittan, Dickinson Dees and Shoosmiths previously launching redundancy programmes."
