Antitrust review could take a year. But first regulators have to decide which federal agency--the DOJ or FTC-- will review the $30 billion joint venture. Battles over who gets "dibs" on a deal have lasted as long as a year in the past.

General Electric needed two sets of counsel for the dual deals it took to sell NBC Universal to Comcast. Counsel included Davis Polk, Willkie Farr, Weil Gotshal, Arnold & Porter, Gibson Dunn, Simpson Thacher, and Debevoise & Plimpton.

Comcast to Acquire NBC Universal; Davis Polk, Weil, Gibson Dunn on $30 Billion Deal
The firms are advising the main parties to the deal announced early Thursday. The joint venture will see Comcast, the nation's largest cable TV company, take 51 percent of NBC, while GE, the peacock network's current parent, will own 49 percent.
