Tales of the Deferred: Will Other Firms Follow Nixon Peabody?
After Nixon Peabody announced on Tuesday that it would further delay start dates for two-thirds of the first-year associates it had already deferred until January 2010, we checked in with 42 other firms slated to start new lawyers in a few weeks to see if they'd made any last-minute scheduling changes.

Former Client to Paul Hastings: Pay Up!
A Cerberus subsidiary fund is suing its former lawyers at Paul Hastings, claiming that their mistakes led to $55 million in losses. Paul Hastings has hired Davis Polk to handle its defense, and blames the economy for Cerberus's bad bet.
