The Washington, D.C., office of Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge has merged with Fleischman and Harding, a 12-lawyer Washington, D.C.-based communications boutique, both firms announced on Tuesday.
Leading the 12-person team is senior partner AARON FLEISCHMAN, who focuses on strategic solutions in corporate and regulatory issues, and partner ART HARDING. Fleischman had served as his firm's chairman and managing partner. Also joining Edwards Angell are partners SETH DAVIDSON, LARRY FREEDMAN, and JEFF HARDIN, and counsel CRAIG GILLEY, SHARON MONAHAN, and JOHN WILNER.
Over its 35-year history, Fleischman has represented clients from across the communications industry--including television, radio, Internet, and wireless companies--on regulatory, transactional, and legislative issues. The firm's past clients include Advance Communications, Cable One, CW Network, Time Warner Cable, and Mediacom.
Edwards Angell managing partner Walter Reed said in a statement that the new group will not only boost his firm's communications practice but will "complement our capabilities in a number of other areas, such as intellectual property and litigation."
Greg Young, the partner-in-charge of Edwards's D.C. office, tells The Am Law Daily: "We certainly hope that the clients that they've historically been linked to will continue on now, with the arrival of Fleischman and Harding here." The new group, Young says, will also support the work for Edwards's existing communications clients. "We see this as a reciprocal type of transaction," he says.
