More 2010 Start Dates Trickle In: Good News for Kirkland, Simpson First-Years
Posted by Zach Lowe
Last week, we posted some mixed start date and stipend news for incoming first-years at Proskauer Rose, Ropes & Gray, and Cahill Gordon & Reindel. Such information continues to trickle in from elite firms, and today we've got updates from two more: Kirkland & Ellis and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.
Kirkland, which actually hosted a larger summer class in New York in 2009 than in 2008, expects to have all of its incoming first-years start work by the end of 2010, according to a source familiar with the matter. The firm has not yet selected specific start dates.
It's business as usual at Simpson, where the firm's incoming associates will all be at work by mid-December of this year, according to James Gamble, cochair of the firm's recruiting committee. The firm, just as it has in prior years, will stagger associate start dates across three separate days--one in late September, a second in late October, and a final start date in mid-December, Gamble says.
