Legal Sector Lost 2100 Jobs in December

The legal services sector lost 2,100 jobs in December, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. All told, the U.S. economy lost 85,000 jobs, with the unemployment rate holding steady at 10 percent, according to the report.
Despite the job losses, the rate of unemployment did not rise, indicating that more unemployed workers have given up their job search, according to The New York Times.
December marked the second month in a row that the pace of job losses in the legal sector has slowed. According to BLS statistics, the sector lost 5,800 jobs in October and 2,900 jobs in November. Factoring in the figures released Friday, the sector has lost 42,700 jobs since December 2008.Make a comment
