After a Brief Foray into Social Work, Ex-Wachtell Partner Returns to Law
Posted by D.M. Levine
In 2006, Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz partner Michael Katke left the firm to pursue a career in social work that would allow him to spend more time with his family.
Three years later, Katke is back practicing law--this time at the Bachelder Law Firm, a New York boutique that specializes in executive comp, AmLaw sister publication The New York Law Journal reports.
During his brief foray into social work, Katke enrolled in psychology and sociology classes at Columbia University. But he decided that joining Bachelder’s team would provide more flexibility than social work ever could.
The banking crisis has kept Bachelder, one of the top executive compensation firms in the country, busy in the last few years handling severance packages for former Merrill CEO Stan O’Neill, Wahcovia CEO G. Kennedy Thompson and the head of Citigroup’s investment banking unit Michael Klein.
